古い日記を読むと、資料が少ないことが問題になる。

現物を確認できない。
日付はあるが、外部資料と照合できない。

02　資料が増えると何が起きるか

現代になると、記録装置は増える。

電話。メール。出版。テレビ。Web。SNS。写真。動画。位置情報。データベース。クラウド。

一つの出来事が、複数の場所に痕跡を残す。これは大きな利点である。

しかし、資料が増えると、同じ出来事の別バージョン、別の編集、後年の訂正、自己演出、転載、削除、断片化が同時に生まれる。

06　テレビは、事実を増やすのか

テレビには映像がある。声がある。日時がある。出演者がいる。だから、日記より正確に見えることがある。

しかしテレビも編集される。撮影時間と放送時間は違う。収録順と放送順が違う。カットがある。演出がある。本人も「テレビに出演する自分」を演じる。

07　Webは、記録を保存するのか

Webは大量の記録を残す。同時に、大量の記録を消す。

URLが変わる。サイトが閉じる。記事が修正される。画像が消える。ドメインが失効する。検索結果から消える。キャッシュだけが残る。

Web上にあったという事実と、現在アクセスできることは同じではない。

08　SNSは、日記なのか

SNSには、日記に似た特徴がある。日付。本人の記述。食事。仕事。感情。場所。人間関係。

しかし、SNSは私的日記ではない。読者がいる。反応がある。アルゴリズムがある。削除できる。編集できる。宣伝にも使われる。他者との会話が混ざる。

10　AIが資料をもう一度書き直す

AIは、新しい一次資料を作らなくても、既存資料の見え方を変える。長い記事を要約する。複数資料を統合する。人物の経歴を説明する。検索結果をまとめる。

しかし、AIの文章だけを見ると、どの資料が使われたか、どこで解釈が加わったか、何が省略されたかが見えにくくなることがある。
