Central theses

A city is not merely where a day happens. It helps determine what can happen in that day.

The city enters the diary as distance, cost, access, waiting, noise, opportunity, and interruption.

“Operating System” is an interpretive metaphor — not a technical claim or Fact about institutions.

Concept

City as condition, not backdrop.

Home as base station

The home is not outside the city. It is the first node of the city network.

Home known? Workplace known? Movement recorded? Duration / cost / route known? — Unknown

HousingRecords: Hayashi partial · others Not indexed. HomeBaseProfiles linked only when sourced.

Workplace / Work footprint

WorkplaceRelations / WorkRecords (day-level): 0

Mobility capability

Mobility is capability.

  • tram
  • bus

Commerce nodes

A shop is a maintenance node.

  • Performance
  • Rehearsal

  • Food
  • Body preparation
  • Audience
  • Money
  • Administration
  • Social network
  • Entertainment

Healthcare access

Health is also an access problem.

Access cost

money = access を単純因果化しない。

No recorded payment does not mean no cost.

Encounter network

Social proximity is partly geographic, partly institutional.

EncounterRecords: 0 — LiteraryNetwork / Meeting

Train. Office. Theater. Doctor. Publisher. Meeting. Queue. Transport delay.

Waiting nodes

Infrastructure saves time and also creates waiting.

Noise. Visitors. Traffic. Construction. Neighbors. Crowds. Public event. Institution.

Access and interruption

Access and interruption can come from the same density.

Noise source only when Entry evidences it. UrbanInterruptionRelations: 0

Urban life phases

Writer = City と固定しない。multiple homes / neighborhoods / cities / temporary residence がありうる。Primary city は代表値にすぎない。時代差を無視して同じ都市名で比較しない。

Same city name, different urban system. UrbanLifePhases: 0

17 Diary Observatory

Diary Observatory does not ask only: Where did this happen?

How Diary Observatory records the city

  • What function did the place perform?
  • How was it reached?
  • What did it cost?
  • Who could enter?
  • What happened while waiting?
  • What other activities depended on it?
  • What changed when access failed?

Place is not enough: Function · Access · Movement · Cost · Time · People · Activity · Source. Current venue pages are not Sources for historical state.

Fact/ 事実

Repository Entities by Writer; Hayashi HousingRecords; Money / Publishing / Maintenance traces where present; empty MovementCapability / CityInfrastructure / UrbanFunction day-networks.

Observation/ 観測

Urban functions appear to condition what an ordinary day can do — through access, distance, cost, waiting, and interruption.
